Jindo Island

So our trip to Jindo island was totally free. It started with a 45 minute flight down to Jindo Island which is off the SW tip of Korea.

Then we got on our bus and were presented with a little breakfast to gobble down as we rode to our 1st destination.

This was also the portion of our trip where we had to introduce ourselves to the 16 or so other participants. Our group consisted of Americans, Candians, Koreans, Vietnamese, Phillipinas, Dutch and Indian people.

First up on our trip was a stop at the Ullimsanbang grounds. Ullimsanbang is the name of the grounds and buildings where the painter Sochi lived and worked in the 19th Century. In addition to Sochi, the grounds produced many famed painters over the centuries.

We were given a guided tour. Our tour guide translated.

Even in January, the grounds were beautiful.

After our tour, it was off to a Korean seafood spread. Oh Yum.

Except I dont eat seafood. And I dont I would have been brave enough to eat those octopus wraps on stick.

Next up was a trip to the Jindo dog Training and Research facility.

There was a good amount of puppy wrangling as you know.

And then a dog training show. Those Jindos are pretty darn smart.

We couldnt take the puppies with us, which made everyone in the group (even the men!) teary eyed.

(Although we were offered the opportunity to purchase a certified pure Jindo puppy, delivered to our door, for half the price of the normal going rate of $1,000USD.

Yep.

We were suppose to get to see a sunset from a fabulous look-out point, but the weather was all overcast, so it wasnt as glorious as it could have been.

After the sunset, we got back on the bus and headed to dinner at a Vegan restaurant about an hour North of Jindo island.

What I didnt eat at lunch, I made up for a dinner!

Then we had to ride the tour bus all the way back to Seoul, which was 4.5 hours! Oh my!

All in all, our trip lasted from 6am until 1am when we got home and relieved our Nanny would somehow was still awake and all of the clothes in our dresser drawers were freshly arranged.

I love that woman.

All in all , we spent less than 2 dollars for a small souvenir (we also received a few free gifts from the Tour Company!). Of course we made up for the free trip by paying our nanny for 19 hours, but that was sooooo well worth it.

Oh, and NO- although we were seriously tempted, we will not be getting a puppy.
