When we moved to Korea, Emma made friends with a young Korean woman that works downstairs in our Lobby. She is always dressed in a black skirt suit, with her hair pulled back. She's beautiful and sweet and loves children.
Especially Emma.
She always (no exaggeration) gives Emma a cookie, a package of crackers, or a candy whenever we make our way thru the lobby. Sometimes that amounts to 4 times a day. Yikes!
(yesterday she gave her yogurt!)
She's even given Emma two little stuffed bears!
She doesnt speak any English, but we've taught Emma "Hello" "Please" and "Thank You" in Korean so far, so she'll say those things when appropriate.
Besides the treats for Emma, she's wiped smudges from the playground off Emma's face, fixed a droopy hairbow, and given out lots of hugs.
Everytime we get in the elevator, Emma asks if we are going to see her "Lobby Friend".
Well, Lobby Friend got a new job, and tomorrow is her last day here.
We are very very sad.
Emma painted this picture, and I added the Korean for (hopefully!) "We Will Miss You!".
Then we took it down to the Lobby to say our goodbyes.
Right after I took this picture, Lobby Friend started crying, which of course made me cry.
I dont think Emma really understands and I think this is going to be a little tough on her for some time to come.
We will miss you Lobby Friend.
